In keeping with the traditional Mississippi never-say-die attitude, many Hattiesburg-area business owners affected by the Feb. 10 tornado are getting back on their feet — and back in business. Employees at Carlstedt's Florist had to work out of refrigerated trucks after the EF4 tornado tore off the back of the building.

UK: Guardian Newspaper's Twitter Feeds Hacked

The Guardian newspaper said Monday that its Twitter accounts have been hacked, and it cited a claim of responsibility from the group calling itself the Syrian Electronic Army. The British paper reported on its website that several of its feeds on the social media site were broken into over the weekend.

The top U.S. military officer said Wednesday that he has called on China to be more transparent about cyberattacks and boost collaboration with the U.S. to tackle a common threat to their economies. Gen. Martin Dempsey said tackling cyber intrusions featured in his talks with his Chinese counterpart and other Chinese leaders during his three-day visit to China.

Man Pulls Gun In Utah Police Lobby

A man who told authorities months ago that he wanted to be killed by police entered a suburban Salt Lake City police station and pointed a gun at an officer and a records clerk, prompting a shootout. The gunbattle at about 8:30 a.m. also disrupted the downtown morning commute, temporarily halting light-rail and bus service in the area.

A Dutch citizen arrested in Spain on suspicion of launching what authorities have called the biggest cyberattack in Internet history is expected to be handed over to the Netherlands within 10 days, a Spanish court official said Monday.Police from the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Spain and the U.S. took part in the investigation.

Honeywell Revises Emergency Response Plans, Eyes Restart

The plant has been closed since May of last year after the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ordered Honeywell to make the site able to withstand an earthquake or tornado. The regulators also wanted the company to revise its emergency response plans to natural disasters.

A new strain of bird flu that emerged in China over the past month is one of the "most lethal" flu viruses so far, worrying health officials because it can jump more easily from birds to humans than the one that started killing people a decade ago, World Health Organization officials said Wednesday.
