Analyzing BIA (And Other) Data By Geographic Area For a Nominal Cost (Case Study)
Sun, 05/07/2006 - 8:00pm
Barry A. Cardoza

When Union Bank of California wanted to analyze BIA data by geographic region in order to determine the total potential impact of a regional event, we looked at a number of services and tools and found that they wouldn’t work for us. These tools couldn’t use existing data from our systems, were overkill, or were just too expensive. So, we developed our own tool, and accomplished our goal for almost no cost.
Once we had created the mechanism, we realized we could use it with many
kinds of data, for everything from facility planning to crisis management. For
instance, if a geographic region is impacted we can instantly see which of
our employees may be impacted because they work in the region, and which
may be impacted because they live in the region.
Attend this session and learn how to create a mechanism that will allow you
to analyze business impact analysis (BIA) data, and many other types of
data, by geographic region at negligible cost. It is simple enough that it can
be used by almost anyone. You will leave this session with samples of how
to develop and apply this tool for use within your own company, in a very
short period of time, and regardless of the level of technical resources available
to you. Attendees will receive working examples that immediately can
be tailored for their own use.
