The BP Deepwater Horizon catastrophe casts a shadow on all oil company CEOs and senior executives, not just BP’s CEO Tony Hayward. The way I see it, cloud computing is not about “internal versus external” services; nor is it a shroud for outsourcing, service bureaus or time-sharing. Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.
