PlantCML, an EADS North America company (Franklin, Tenn.), announced it has been selected by Peak 10, a leading independent data center operator and managed services provider, to supply emergency notification technology.
Implementation of The Communicator! NXT solution will serve as an added layer of efficiency for Peak 10’s communications during contingencies, bolstering the company’s already-comprehensive business continuity strategy. System deployment is slated for the third quarter of 2010.
Specializing in the hosting and management of complex IT environments, Peak 10 is keenly focused on 24/7 availability, security and integrity of critical data and business applications in a number of markets. The company’s enhancement of its emergency notification processes helps facilitate communications and response in the event Peak 10 infrastructure or operations are jeopardized in any way, ensuring optimal performance and redundancy of services. The Communicator! NXT solution, which is used extensively throughout the public and private sectors, was chosen for its demonstrated performance, reliability and integration capabilities.
“Resiliency is vital to supporting the operational needs of our clients,” said Dan Wixon, vice president of service delivery at Peak 10. “The use of emergency notification technology better positions us to respond to events, helping ensure the sustainability of our organization and, ultimately, that of our customers.”
The Communicator! NXT solution provides complete automation of critical communications procedures, rapidly contacting designated audiences by landline, cell, SMS/text, etc. Most often, the web-based application serves to mobilize personnel for crisis response, intelligently filling positions based on situational needs or individual skills, certifications or schedules. It can also bring management together via conference bridge; share follow-up information; or simply communicate with employees concerning company-related activities.
In corporate environments, emergency activations of The Communicator! NXT solution range from data disruptions to inclement weather to security threats; while non-critical uses typically involve HR-related activities.
For Peak 10, certain notifications will be initiated through the PlantCML-provided Application Programming Interface (API). The API will recognize events as triggers to alert IT personnel, company management and others, and enable the seamless exchange of data between The Communicator! NXT solution and other critical systems and infrastructure. With information in hand, Peak 10 can address technical issues straightaway, and customers like Lending Tree, Pergo, Healthways and The Fresh Market experience highly available service.
“We are thrilled to have been selected by Peak 10,” said Bob Freinberg, vice president and general manager for PlantCML’s Notification Solutions and Services (NSS) business unit. “Their organization clearly understands the nature of our business and how we fit into theirs as a service provider. Together, we can better serve the needs of all Peak 10 customers by ensuring the integrity of systems and quality of communication throughout the company’s state-of-the-art data centers.”
